The Phillies Are NL East Contenders (PST Show #260)

At this moment in time, the Philadelphia Phillies are NL East contenders as we’ve seen some ups and downs with this team throughout April and May. Joining us this week to dissect the team’s pitching and hitting is John Town, writer and contributor at Fansided’s ThatBallsOuttaHere.com. It’s an interesting, early part to this Phillies season, and John takes us through what we can expect from our beloved Phils in the future.
But first, on the Brief News & Views segment:
1. The Sixers season is over and we get into our takeaways. (7:50)
2. Eagles news and notes: Jernigan’s injury and signing of RB Matt Jones. (24:50)
3. Baseball is coming to the UK. (33:25)
Then we get into our Up or Down segment where we briefly analyze Philly sports figures to determine if their needle is moving up or down. (40:20)
What we’re throwing down on the Table this week is an interview and discussion with John Town from That Balls Outta Here. We started our discussion focusing on the bullpen, the future of the closer position with Hector Neris and how Seranthony Dominguez role fits into Gabe Kapler’s philosophy. From there, we dove into what we’ve seen thus far from Zach Eflin on the mound. We also discussed the Phillies hitting numbers and what this team’s offensive identity is, if they have one at the moment. Do we still have concerns about Jorge Alfaro catching behind the plate, and what might the future hold for Nick Williams? All of this and much more this week on the Table! (46:10)
