The Phillies Are Movin' N' Shakin' (PST Show #290)

The Philadelphia Phillies are movin’ n’ shakin’ at this point in the offseason. They’ve made one major acquisition, have been leading contenders to acquire other MLB talent, and they’re not done seeking out players to take this roster and team to the next level in 2019. To talk to us this week about the direction this organization is moving in, John Stolnis from TheGoodPhight.com and host of the Hittin’ Season podcast joined us. It was a great discussion about free agency and how this team needs to build during this offseason.
But first, on the Brief News and Views segment:
1. Voicemail from Markelle Fultz’s shoulder. (6:00)
2. Women continue to impact sports and front offices. (12:10)
3. Flyers Talk: Hextall’s micromanaging, hiring a new GM and assistant coach. (21:40)
4. Eagles Talk: Playoff odds and our scoring predictions for the game vs. the Cowboys this weekend. (44:00)
What we’re throwing down on the Table this week is an in-depth interview with John Stolnis who hosts the Hittin’ Season podcast and is a writer/contributor at The Good Phight. First we dove right into the Jean Segura trade Matt Klentak recently made that now provides stability at the shortstop position. Further, who are the pitching pieces the Phillies received in the deal? And who might be a few starting pitchers the Phillies may want to target on the open market? The guys also discussed the future of the catcher position and if it should be a priority during the offseason. Can this offseason be a success if the Phils cannot land Manny Machado or Bryce Harper? All of this topics and much more this week on the Table! (50:00)
