Says Jayson Stark of The Athletic:

In the six weeks since the Phillies “reassigned” general manager Matt Klentak, the Angels hired a new GM (Perry Minasian).

So did the Marlins (Kim Ng).

And right across the street in South Philly, even the 76ers hired the highest-profile NBA coach (Doc Rivers) and president of basketball operations (Daryl Morey) in America.

There were no indications, during that time, that the Phillies interviewed a single candidate. But now, finally, after weeks of name-gathering and research, they’re ready to hit the accelerator.

According to sources who have been in contact with them, the Phillies expect to begin interviewing executives to head their front office as soon as next week.

So after all these weeks in which their plans were a source of public mystery, it’s now apparent, said one of those sources, that they have “a lot of balls in the air.”
