Philly Sports In 3 Words: Rise, Destination, Respect (PST Show #257)

It’s our 5-year anniversary! We thank you for joining us this week as we welcome our newest cohost to the crew, Erik Leonard. It was a great time to officially bring Erik on board because this week we took a look at how the four major Philly sports teams have been ascending over the years and what we can expect from them in the future. Throughout our discussion on the Table, three words became prevalent about where our Philly sports teams are sitting right now and how their building blocks look for the future: Rise, Destination and Respect.
But first, on the Brief News & Views segment:
1. Sixers Talk: a bad game 2 loss vs. the Heat, and Joel Embiid’s reaction. (7:15)
2. Villanova basketball recruits local talent. (18:50)
3. Nick Pivetta’s season and Phils pitching. (23:20)
4. A look at the NFC East. (29:00
5. What are the Flyers realistic chances of advancing in the playoffs? (35:10)
Then we get into our Up or Down segment where we briefly analyze Philly sports figures to determine if their needle is moving up or down. (41:25)
What we’re throwing down on the Table is an open and honest discussion about the rise and ascension of the Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, and Flyers. Many in the national media haven’t given the Philadelphia sports scene the respect it rightly deserves as our city teams have moved up the ladder over the years. Meanwhile, even though there are hiccups along with way, the future for all four teams look very bright. We discuss some of the past, present and future about all four teams as the three words – Rise, Destination and Respect – are our main themes this week on the Table. (47:40)
