There was finally some good news for Phillies fans on Monday. The 24-year-old was announced as a Rookie of The Year finalist after an exceptional season under peculiar circumstances.
Since the inception of the Major League Rookie of the Year award in 1947, the Philadelphia Phillies have had 4 players receive said honor. If this doesn’t highlight just how strong Bohm has been this season, I don’t know what will.
His .338 batting average was not only stellar but also historic for the Phillies. Only 2 ROTY’s have hit .338 or higher in t heir rookie season. With a .400 On-Base Percentage to boot, he drove in 23 and scored 24 runs. Bohm went hitless in only 12 games
Bohm also showed some real versatility. He played third base in 38 games and committed four errors. His fielding percentage was a respectable .957. However, in his seven starts at first base, he was flawless.
The winner will be announced on November 9th. Will Bohm make Phillies history?
